A short intro about pencil boards:
For those of you that don't know, "shitajiki" is the
Japanese word for pencil boards.
The Japanese use these when they write. They put one
under a piece of paper so that the pencil/pen doesn't leave marks on the
pages underneath. Pencil boards are usually made of stiff plastic but there
are also some made from stiff (almost cardboard-like) paper. Here in Japan,
you can find them with many images on them, for example, Japanese anime
characters, popular TV personalities or singers, movies, or popular characters
like those from Disney.
